My first draft of my logo was going to consist of simple black and white scales, which is balanced, to portray balance and equality, which is what we aim to achieve. However, I later realised that a logo like this may be too complicated and not aesthetically pleasing. I changed my idea, and while it is not complete, it is a green circle with a gradient and a bold purple outline, and three bold lines going through the circle. I intend to add text saying “Digital Dragons Day” and “Combating Social Injustice”. I’m also considering adding an equal sign, to represent equality. Below is an image of my design so far. Do you think my colour scheme works?
The one on the right is the first one which I abandoned, and the one on the right is the incomplete one that I recently started.
Online Resources
I used a few resources to help get me started. The first was a tutorial video explaining how to regenerate a computer image using the pen tool in keynote or pages. Recreating the image gives a lot more freedom in terms of what we can do to it. With this, I am able to change the colour easily and change the outline. At first, I used this to trace the scales, but since I later realised that I will not be using the scales anymore. I will use this again in the future when I add an image to my next draft. I want to choose a font that is modern and streamlined, to complement my design. I will definitely be using a Sans Serif font, and I’m considering using a font called Mohave, which I found on the free font website.
I used the Hong Kiat and typography site for inspiration on how I wanted my logo to look. By looking at successful designs that get a point across and look nice, I am able to get an image of how I want my logo to look. A particular one that stood out to me was the Recurrence logo. I liked the dark background and the bright colours that contrast it. I also like the simplistic images on it. I also really liked the freedom logo, because it shows that it is possible to get effective results using only one colour. The photos are below:
I also used the 10 commandments of colour theory to get an idea and an understanding of which colours I should use and whether they would complement each other, and the different types of colour combinations that look nice. I chose purple because it represents unconditional and selfless love, devoid of ego, encouraging sensitivity and compassion. I chose green because it represents balance and harmony. These are all things we strive to achieve by finding a solution to the problem at hand. I Chose these colours of the simple black and white theme because black and white portray simplicity, and social injustice, the issue at hand, is the opposite.

Advice From Peers
The first classmate that I got some feedback from was Malika. She helped me realise that the original scales were too complicated and while it may get my point across, it wouldn’t end up looking aesthetically pleasing. The second peer I met with, Aarushi, told me she liked the idea of only using black and white in the scales logo. Using this, I might stick to only two colours in the new logo I am making. The last person I met with, Tomoko, also told me the that my first logo was a little too complicated. She also said that currently, simplistic and minimalistic designs look nice, so I hope to use that in my new logo.
